Commissions

General Terms & Information

  • I'm open on subject matter (not limited to just dinosaurs) but creatures and animals are my specialty
  • Commissions are completed in my style, but as there are variations in the creative process you accept that the artwork will be unique and therefore subject to reasonable variation.
  • I hold correspondence in English via email or direct messaging depending on how you contact me.
  • The information below is for personal, non-commercial pieces. If a piece(s) is intended for commercial project I will need to know at the start of the project as the process and prices will change.
  • I have the right to reject any order for any reason.
  • Terms of Service may change from time to time, but will not affect your order in any negative way once you have made it.
  • By placing an order you agree with my full Terms of Service.

Prices

  • Prices listed are a starting point and may rise due to the complexity of a project.
  • Prices listed are for personal, non-commercial pieces.
  • Every price will be considered individually based on what you are looking for. If the design of a piece is complex it will also take extra time to complete.
  • The price of a piece will rise if you request a faster deadline
  • "Caravan Series" Extra Characters: in the Caravan series a dinosaur and their person is considered 1 character. Different combinations of people/dinosaurs can be discussed based on what you're looking for though
    • tiny "tag along" animals (the little pterosaurs, compy's, etc.) are not considered an extra character unless you're asking for a bunch (6+) of them

Payment

  • Once the price of the commission is set, I will send you an invoice via PayPal.
  • Commission must be paid 100% upfront before I begin working on a piece.

Timelines

  • Once I know what you are looking to commission I will give you a rough idea of how long the piece will take to complete and when I will be able to get started.
  • I will do my best to accommodate needing pieces by  specific dates, but I cannot always guarantee in advance that a piece will be able to be completed by a specific time.
  • Each piece generally take between 1 week - 2 months to complete (depending on detail level and complexity) once I begin working on them.

Process and Delivery

  • Please let me know at the start of a project if you will require a specific file format or resolution so I can do my best to accommodate you. If I am only made aware of this at the end of a project, if may need to be re-made and you will be charged accordingly.
  • Time to finish a commission varies depending on factors such as the complexity of a commissioned piece, the type of commission, other work in progress, possible health issues, etc. I will inform you if there will be any unexpected situations that will make the time longer. 
  • General completion time for a commission is between 1 week and 2 months once I begin working on the piece.
  • After we have discussed what you are looking for, I can give you a rough idea of how long it will take, and how long it may take me to get started depending on any other current work.
  • Upon receiving payment, I will provide an initial sketch of the commission for your approval based on our discussion of what you are looking for. At that point you may request any revisions to the initial sketch, or a new initial sketch if it's not what you are looking for.
  • The maximum amount of revisions/new sketches you can ask for is 3. Any additional sketches/revisions will cost extra.  
  • Once the sketch is approved I will begin working on the final piece. 
  • After approving the sketch, all major revisions will cost extra. The one exception from this being if I have forgotten to add or missed something that we had previously discussed.
  • Once completed, I will send you the finished artwork at full resolution via email or WeTransfer.   

Copyright and Artwork Usage

  • All rights reserved. Please do not reproduce, copy, edit, publish, sell, or upload my artwork without my knowledge and consent. Only commissioners (the one purchasing the commission) and character owners may re-upload relevant artworks if proper credit is given. 
  • I retain all copyrights over the commissioned artwork.
  • I reserve the right to post the commissioned artwork online and in my portfolio. However, if for any reason you don't want me to post the commission online, please let me know.
  • You may upload the commissioned artwork on any website and social channel, but please remember to give me credit - @clanaghan or Curtis Lanaghan
  • You may not make profits from the private use commissioned piece (reselling, redistributing, making prints, etc.). You can make profits only from the commercial use commissions and only in the fields of exploitation that we agreed on. 
  • You may not alter the commissioned artwork without my consent. You may not ask another artist or person(s) to change anything about my artwork either. 
  • I do not take responsibility if the Client will use the commission ordered from me in any illegal/improper way.
  • By providing me with references for your commission the Client declares that they have full copyrights or the owner's permission for usage for the character design or of the other elements depicted.

Cancellations and Refund Policy

  • If for any reason I am unable to start your commission you will receive a full refund. 
  • If you cancel your order before I start it, you can get a full refund. 
  • You can cancel your order anytime, but if you do so after I have started the commission you will get a refund only for a percentage of the work not yet completed as determined by me.
  • Once a commission is complete, no refund will be given.
  • If you are getting a refund, do not request a PayPal charge back. I will transfer the money back to you myself. 
  • I have the right to cancel a commission at any time if the Client stops responding, behaves improperly, or does not send payment on time.
